The Dayman big-eyed tree frog (Nyctimystes daymani) is a type of frog. It lives in the country of Papua New Guinea, which is in the southeastern part of the world. This frog prefers to live in wet areas, like swamps or marshes, that are far away from the ocean.

Scientists have only found this special frog in two places. Both places are in Papua New Guinea. One is on a mountain called Dayman Mountain. The other place is called Mafulu. These frogs were found living about 700 meters (or about 2,300 feet) above the sea.

About the Dayman Big-Eyed Tree Frog

What It Looks Like

Male Dayman big-eyed tree frogs are quite small. They grow to be about 3.8 centimeters (or about 1.5 inches) long.

When scientists study these frogs after they have died, they look brown. They have darker brown patterns on their backs and legs. A cool thing about them is that their lower eyelids have patterns that look like tiny veins.

When these frogs are alive, they look a bit different. They are a light brown color. They also have small orange and white spots on their bodies. Their toes are bright orange. The frog's belly is a very clean white color.
