DeAndre Desmond Liggins (born March 31, 1988) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for Dijlah Al-Jamiea in Iraq. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the University of Kentucky.

High School Basketball Journey
DeAndre Liggins started his high school basketball career in Chicago. He went to George Washington High School. For his final year, he moved to Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada. Experts at Rivals.com thought he was a top player. They ranked him as the 6th best point guard in the country in 2008. He was also the 28th best player overall.
College Basketball Years
Liggins played basketball for three years at the University of Kentucky. For his first two years, he usually came off the bench. This means he was a substitute player. In his junior year, his coach, John Calipari, decided to make him a starter. After this successful junior season, he chose to enter the 2011 NBA draft. This is where professional teams pick new players.
Professional Basketball Career
DeAndre Liggins has played for many teams around the world. He has shown his skills in the NBA and other leagues.
Playing for the Orlando Magic (2011–2012)
On June 24, 2011, the Orlando Magic picked Liggins in the NBA draft. He was the 53rd player chosen overall. He played his first NBA game for the Magic on February 20, 2012. In that game, he scored three points and grabbed two rebounds. He also joined the Magic for the NBA Summer League in 2012.
Time with the Oklahoma City Thunder (2012–2013)
Liggins signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder on September 12, 2012. While with the Thunder, he also played for their minor league team. This team was the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Development League (now called the G-League). On January 13, 2013, he started his first NBA game for the Thunder. He scored 11 points and had nine rebounds in that game. The Thunder won against the Portland Trail Blazers. He later joined the Thunder for the 2013 NBA Summer League. The Thunder waived him on September 6, 2013.
Sioux Falls Skyforce and Miami Heat (2013–2014)
In November 2013, Liggins joined the Sioux Falls Skyforce. This is another team in the NBA D-League. He was chosen to play in the 2014 NBA Development League All-Star Game. This shows he was one of the best players in the league.
On February 25, 2014, Liggins signed a short contract with the Miami Heat. He signed another short contract on March 8. He played only one game for the Heat, scoring 2 points. On March 18, 2014, he went back to the Skyforce. On April 21, he was named the D-League Defensive Player of the Year. This award goes to the best defensive player.
Playing in Russia and Germany (2014–2015)
In July 2014, Liggins played in the NBA Summer League for two different teams. These were the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Clippers. On October 15, 2014, he signed with Krasny Oktyabr in Russia. He left that team in January 2015. On February 27, 2015, he signed with Eisbären Bremerhaven in Germany. He finished the season playing there.
Return to Sioux Falls Skyforce (2015–2016)
On November 2, 2015, Liggins rejoined the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He was again named an All-Star for the 2016 NBA D-League All-Star Game. However, he could not play due to an injury. On April 13, he won the D-League Defensive Player of the Year award again. This was his second time winning it.
He helped the Skyforce have an amazing season, winning 40 games and losing only 10. The team then won the league championship! Liggins was also named to the All-NBA D-League Second Team. He also made the All-NBA D-League All-Defensive First Team for the second time.
With the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016–2017)
On September 26, 2016, Liggins signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played his first game for them on October 25, 2016. He helped the Cavaliers win that game. The Cavaliers waived him on April 9, 2017.
Short Time with the Dallas Mavericks (2017)
Just two days later, on April 11, 2017, the Dallas Mavericks picked up Liggins.
Moving Between Teams (2017 Off-Season)
During the 2017 off-season, Liggins was part of several trades. He was traded to the Houston Rockets, then to the Los Angeles Clippers. Later, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. He was waived by the Hawks very quickly. On October 10, 2017, he signed with the Miami Heat again. However, he was waived just four days later.
Playing for the Milwaukee Bucks (2017–2018)
On October 16, 2017, the Milwaukee Bucks picked up Liggins. He played for them until January 7, 2018, when he was waived.
Time with the New Orleans Pelicans (2018)
On January 10, 2018, Liggins signed a short contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. He signed a second short contract on January 20. On February 5, 2018, he signed a two-year deal with the Pelicans. He started one game for them on February 9. He was waived by the Pelicans on August 31, 2018.
Third Time with Sioux Falls Skyforce (2018–2019)
On October 7, 2018, Liggins signed with the Miami Heat again. He was waived a few days later. After that, Liggins joined the Sioux Falls Skyforce for a third time.
Playing in Greece (2019)
On March 23, 2019, Liggins signed with Kolossos Rodou in the Greek Basket League. He played there for the rest of the season.
Playing in Spain (2019)
On August 5, 2019, Liggins signed a one-year deal with Montakit Fuenlabrada in Spain. He averaged 2.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
Time with the London Lions (2020–2021)
On July 22, 2020, Liggins signed with the London Lions in the British Basketball League (BBL). During the 2020–21 season, Liggins averaged 14.4 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game. He was named to the British Basketball League Team of the Year. He also won the British Basketball League Defensive Team of the Year. Plus, he was the MVP of the BBL Trophy Finals in 2021.
Playing in Taiwan (2021–2022)
On December 3, 2021, Liggins signed with New Taipei Kings in Taiwan. They play in the P. League+.
