DeDe Dorsey is a former American football player. He was a talented running back in the National Football League (NFL). He also played in the United Football League (UFL). Dorsey is known for winning a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts. He also won two UFL championships with the Las Vegas Locomotives.

DeDe Dorsey's College Football Journey
DeDe Dorsey started his college football career at Ottawa University. This was in 2003. He played as a defensive back. He was very good at returning kickoffs. One time, he ran a kickoff back 98 yards for a touchdown! He was also chosen as a second-team All-American for defense.
After his second year, he moved to Lindenwood. In 2004, he was named a first-team All-American for defense. He scored three touchdowns while playing defense. Later that season, he switched to running back. He rushed for 842 yards and nine touchdowns.
In his final year, he was named a first-team All-American as a running back. He rushed for an amazing 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns. It was the first time in college history that a player was named a first-team All-American in both defense and offense in different seasons.
Dorsey's Defensive Skills in College
Even though he became a great running back, Dorsey was also a strong defensive player. In less than three seasons, he caught seven interceptions. He returned four of these for touchdowns. He also blocked seven field goals and nine punts. This shows he was a very versatile player.
DeDe Dorsey's NFL Career
After college, DeDe Dorsey joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006. He was an undrafted free agent. This means he was not chosen in the main NFL draft. However, he was later signed by the team. He was released before the 2006 season began.
Winning the Super Bowl with the Colts
On September 3, 2006, the Indianapolis Colts picked up Dorsey. He played for the Colts in Super Bowl XLI. The Colts won the championship game 29–17 against the Chicago Bears. This was a huge achievement for Dorsey. The Colts released him on September 1, 2007.
Return to the Cincinnati Bengals
Dorsey rejoined the Cincinnati Bengals on September 25, 2007. He was the third-string running back. He had a great season, averaging 8.7 yards every time he carried the ball. He rushed for 183 yards on just 21 attempts.
Memorable Plays with the Bengals
In 2007, Dorsey had a 45-yard run against the St. Louis Rams. This was the Bengals' longest run in three seasons. On November 18, 2007, he blocked a punt by Mike Barr. He then ran it 19 yards for a touchdown. This was the first time a Bengals player had blocked a punt for a touchdown since 1989. Dorsey became only the third player in Bengals' history to do this.
In 2008, Dorsey was placed on injured reserve after hurting his hamstring. He had a 36-yard pass reception in a game against the Tennessee Titans. He was released by the Bengals on September 14, 2009.
Time with the Detroit Lions
Dorsey signed a contract with the Detroit Lions on February 9, 2010. He was released by the team on September 4, 2010.
Success in the United Football League
DeDe Dorsey also played for the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL. This was a professional football league.
First Stint with Las Vegas Locomotives
On October 8, 2009, Dorsey scored two touchdowns for the Locomotives. This was in the very first UFL game against the California Redwoods. He rushed for 63 yards and caught three passes.
On November 27, 2009, Dorsey helped the Locomotives win the first-ever UFL Championship game. They beat the Florida Tuskers 20–17 in overtime. Dorsey rushed for 66 yards and scored two touchdowns. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game.
Second Stint with Las Vegas Locomotives
Dorsey rejoined the Las Vegas Locomotives on September 24, 2010. On October 5, he was named UFL Player Of The Week for his great performance.
Canadian Football League
DeDe Dorsey signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL) on April 29, 2013. He was released by the team on June 22, 2013.
