DeDe Dorsey, born on August 1, 1984, is a former American professional football player. He was a running back, which means he was a player who runs with the ball. DeDe started his professional journey in 2006 with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played college football at Lindenwood. DeDe also played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions. A big highlight of his career was winning a Super Bowl ring with the Colts in Super Bowl XLI.

College Football Journey

DeDe Dorsey started his college football career at Ottawa after finishing high school. In 2003, he played as a defensive back. He made an amazing play by returning a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown! He was also chosen as a second-team All-American for defense in the NAIA.

Moving to Lindenwood

After his second year, DeDe moved to Lindenwood. In 2004, he was named a first-team NAIA All-American as a defensive back. He scored three touchdowns on defense that year. What's even cooler is that he switched to running back with only four games left in the season! He still managed to rush for 842 yards and score nine touchdowns.

Making History in College

As a senior, DeDe was named a first-team NAIA All-American again, but this time as a running back. He rushed for an incredible 1,600 yards and scored 18 touchdowns! This was a historic moment because he was the first player in NAIA history to be named a first-team All-American on both defense and offense in back-to-back seasons. During his time as a defensive player, DeDe had seven interceptions, returning four of them for touchdowns. He also blocked seven field goals and nine punts!

Professional Football Career

DeDe Dorsey had an exciting professional football career, playing for several teams.

Cincinnati Bengals (First Time)

After the 2006 NFL draft, DeDe signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He joined them as an undrafted free agent, which means he wasn't chosen in the draft but was signed afterward. However, he was released before the 2006 season officially began.

Indianapolis Colts

On September 3, 2006, the Indianapolis Colts picked up DeDe. He played in Super Bowl XLI with the Colts, where they won 29–17 against the Chicago Bears. This was a huge achievement for him! The Colts released DeDe on September 1, 2007.

Cincinnati Bengals (Second Time)

DeDe re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on September 25, 2007. As the third-string running back, he had a great season, averaging 8.7 yards per carry. He rushed for 183 yards on just 21 attempts. One of his most memorable plays was a 45-yard run against the St. Louis Rams.

Special Teams Play

On November 18, 2007, in a game against the Arizona Cardinals, DeDe blocked a punt by Mike Barr in the third quarter. He then returned it 19 yards for a touchdown! This was the first time the Bengals had blocked a punt since 1995, and the first time they blocked one for a touchdown since 1989. DeDe became only the third player in Bengals' history to block a punt and recover it for a touchdown all by himself.

In 2008, DeDe was injured after Week 4. He had gained eight yards on five carries before his injury. He also had a 36-yard pass reception in Week 2. The Bengals released DeDe on September 14, 2009.

Las Vegas Locomotives (First Time)

DeDe Dorsey joined the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL. On October 8, 2009, he scored two touchdowns against the California Redwoods in the very first UFL game! He rushed for 63 yards and had three receptions.
