DeMarcus Covington (born March 30, 1989) is an American football coach. He currently works for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). He helps coach the team's defensive line and also coordinates their run game. Before joining the Packers, he was an assistant coach for several teams. These included the New England Patriots, Eastern Illinois University, the University of Tennessee at Martin, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Early Life and College Football Career
DeMarcus Covington grew up playing football. He played college football as a wide receiver for the Samford Bulldogs. This team is part of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). From 2007 to 2010, he caught 62 passes for 586 yards. He also scored two touchdowns during his time there. Covington finished his studies and graduated from Samford in 2011.
DeMarcus Covington's Coaching Journey
Starting in College Football
Covington began his coaching career in 2012. This was just one year after he graduated from college. His first job was as a defensive graduate assistant. He worked for the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers.
In 2013, he moved to the Southeastern Conference. He spent two seasons there as a defensive graduate assistant for Ole Miss. After that, in 2015, Covington coached the defensive line at UT Martin. In 2016, he became the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Eastern Illinois.
Coaching for the New England Patriots
Covington joined the New England Patriots in 2017. For his first two years, he worked as a coaching assistant. In 2019, he became the team's outside linebackers coach. During this time, he won his first Super Bowl title. The Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
In 2020, Covington's role changed. He started coaching the defensive line. On February 1, 2024, he was promoted to defensive coordinator. However, he was not kept on the team after Mike Vrabel was hired as the new head coach.
Moving to the Green Bay Packers
On January 30, 2025, Covington found a new coaching role. He was hired by the Green Bay Packers. He now serves as their defensive line coach. He also helps coordinate the team's run game.
Personal Life and Community Work
DeMarcus Covington is married to Natasha. They have two sons named Cassius and Cayman. In 2012, Covington started a non-profit football camp called Next Level. This camp helps young people in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. It gives them a full day of football drills and fun activities.
