DeQueen Lake is a beautiful reservoir in Sevier County, Arkansas. It was created on the Rolling Fork River. The lake is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the town of De Queen. It helps control floods and provides water for the area. It is also a popular spot for outdoor activities and fun!

Building DeQueen Dam

The idea for DeQueen Dam came from the Flood Control Act of 1958. This law helped approve its building. The United States Army Corps of Engineers oversaw the project. They are a group that builds and manages many water projects.

The Tulsa District first managed the construction. Now, the Little Rock District takes care of the dam. Work on the dam and lake began in April 1966. The lake officially started operating on August 31, 1977.

The dam is made of earth and stands about 49 meters (160 feet) tall. It holds a large amount of water. This water helps prevent floods in the area.
