DeCovan Kadell "Dee" Brown (born November 29, 1968) is a former American professional basketball player. He spent many years in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Dee Brown played for teams like the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. After playing, he also worked as a coach and an executive for NBA teams. His daughter, Lexie Brown, is also a professional basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Dee Brown's Playing Career

Dee Brown was a 6-foot-0-inch (1.83 m) guard who played college basketball at Jacksonville University. The Boston Celtics picked him as the 19th player in the 1990 NBA draft. In his first year, he played in all 82 games. He was even named to the NBA All-Rookie Team for new players.

Winning the Slam Dunk Contest

A big moment in his career happened in 1991. Dee Brown won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He famously performed a "no-look" slam dunk, which means he covered his eyes while dunking!

Time with the Celtics and Raptors

Dee Brown was a starting player for the Celtics in the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons. During these years, he scored his highest points per game. He averaged more than 15 points each season. After playing for the Celtics for over seven seasons, he moved to the Toronto Raptors in 1998. Throughout his entire playing career, he scored a total of 6,758 points.

Dee Brown in Television

In 2005, Dee Brown won a special contest called Dream Job. This reality show gave him a one-year contract to work as a sports analyst for ESPN. He also hosted another ESPN show about basketball called City Slam.

Coaching and Management Roles

After his playing career, Dee Brown became involved in coaching and basketball management. In 2005, he started his own company, EDGE Basketball, LLC. This company helps train basketball players from middle school to professional levels.

Coaching in the WNBA

Brown also coached in the Women's National Basketball Association. He was the head coach for the Orlando Miracle. Later, he coached the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Coaching in the NBA Development League

In 2009, Dee Brown became the head coach for the Springfield Armor. This team was part of the NBA Development League, which is now called the G League. He also managed the team's basketball operations.

Assistant Coach in the NBA

In September 2011, Brown joined the Detroit Pistons as an assistant coach. Then, in July 2013, he became an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. He also worked as their director of player development.

Current Role

Dee Brown joined the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2016–17 season. He is now the general manager of their NBA G League team. As of 2022, he is also the Director of University and Athletics Relations at his old college, Jacksonville University.
