DeCovan Kadell "Dee" Brown was born on November 29, 1968. He is an American who used to play professional basketball. Dee Brown spent 30 years in the NBA. He played for 12 seasons (1990–2002) in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, and Orlando Magic. After playing, he worked as an executive for teams like the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers. His daughter, Lexie Brown, also plays basketball in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Playing Career

Dee Brown is a 6-foot (1.83 m) tall guard. He played college basketball at Jacksonville University. The Boston Celtics chose him as the 19th player in the 1990 NBA draft. This is when teams pick new players to join the league.

In his first year, Dee Brown was part of the NBA All-Rookie Team. This means he was one of the best new players in the league. He played in all 82 games that season. He scored an average of 8.7 points per game.

A very exciting moment in his career happened in 1991. He won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He did a special "no-look" slam dunk, which means he covered his eyes while dunking! He was a starting player for the Celtics in the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons. During these years, he scored his highest points, averaging over 15 points per game. After playing for the Celtics for seven and a half seasons, he joined the Toronto Raptors in 1998. In total, Dee Brown scored 6,758 points during his playing career.

Television Career

In 2005, Dee Brown won a special contest. It was a reality show called Dream Job on ESPN. He won a one-year job as a sports analyst for ESPN. This means he talked about sports on TV. He also hosted another ESPN show called City Slam!.

Coaching and Management Career

In 2005, Dee Brown started his own company called EDGE Basketball, LLC. This company helps train basketball players. They work with players from middle school all the way up to professional levels.

Dee Brown has also been a coach in the Women's National Basketball Association. He was the head coach for the Orlando Miracle. Later, he coached the San Antonio Silver Stars.

In 2009, he became the head coach for the Springfield Armor. This team is part of the NBA Development League, which is now called the NBA G League. He was also in charge of basketball operations for the team.

In 2011, Dee Brown became an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons. Then, in 2013, he joined the Sacramento Kings as an assistant coach. He also helped players develop their skills there.

Later, he joined the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2016–17 season. Today, he is the general manager for their NBA G League team. As of 2022, Dee Brown also works at his old college, Jacksonville University. He is the Director of University and Athletics Relations.
