Discovering Deerbrook's Name
Have you ever wondered how places get their names? Deerbrook has a cool story behind its own!
How Deerbrook Got Its Name
The name "Deerbrook" was chosen by a man named Edward Dawson. He was a "timber cruiser" and a prospector. A timber cruiser is someone who explores forests to estimate the amount of wood available. One day, while exploring the area, Edward Dawson saw a deer drinking water from a small stream, which is also called a brook. He thought it was a perfect name for the spot, so he called it "Deerbrook."
