Del'Shawn Phillips, born on October 9, 1996, is an American professional football player. He plays as a linebacker for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Illinois.

College Football Journey
Del'Shawn Phillips first planned to play college football at Western Michigan. However, he couldn't join the team right away because of academic rules. He took a year off from football to study online at Mott Community College.
After that, he enrolled at Garden City Community College in Kansas. During his first year there, he made 72 tackles. He also had 12.5 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks. In his second year, he made 95 tackles. His team, the Broncbusters, won the 2016 NJCAA National Football Championship.
Phillips then decided to transfer to the University of Illinois. He became a starter at linebacker in his first season at Illinois. He led the team with 85 tackles that year. As a senior, he was chosen as a team captain. He again led the team with 95 tackles. He also made four interceptions. For his great performance, he was named honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference.
Professional Football Career
Del'Shawn Phillips began his professional career in 2019. He joined the NFL after college.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons signed Phillips on April 29, 2019. He was an undrafted free agent, meaning no team picked him in the NFL Draft. However, he was released by the team before the regular season started.
Buffalo Bills
Phillips then joined the Buffalo Bills on October 30, 2019. He was signed to their practice squad. He stayed on the practice squad for the rest of that season. In January 2020, he signed a futures contract with the team.
Phillips made his NFL debut with the Bills on September 13, 2020. This was against the New York Jets. He unfortunately got a quadriceps injury during this game. He was placed on injured reserve in October. He returned in November but was placed back on injured reserve shortly after.
In January 2021, the Bills released Phillips. He played in only two games for the Bills. All of his playing time was on special teams.
New York Jets
On March 23, 2021, Phillips signed with the New York Jets. He was released in August but then re-signed to their practice squad. He was later promoted to the active roster in September.
The Jets released Phillips again on August 30, 2022.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens claimed Phillips from waivers on August 31, 2022. This means they picked him up after the Jets released him. He re-signed with the Ravens on March 19, 2023.
Houston Texans
On March 15, 2024, Del'Shawn Phillips signed a one-year contract. He joined the Houston Texans.
