Delaire is a small community located in New Castle County, Delaware, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a place with a shared identity but without its own local government, like a city or town.
Where is Delaire Located?
Delaire sits on top of a hill. From this spot, you can see the Delaware River. It is found northeast of a place called Bellefonte.
The community is nestled between two important roads: U.S. Route 13 Business (also known as Philadelphia Pike) and U.S. Route 13. Delaire is also right next to Bellevue State Park and a small stream called Stoney Creek.
How Delaire Started
Delaire began to be built in the 1940s. Before it became a community, the land was part of a larger area known as the Volpe Tract. This land, about 61 acres, used to be the home of the Bellevue Gun Club.
Developers divided this large piece of land into smaller plots for homes. This process is called a subdivision. By 1980, Delaire was seen as a typical neighborhood for its area. Most of its homes were built strongly with masonry, and many middle-class families lived there.
