History of Delaware, New Jersey
The community of Delaware has a cool history linked to railroads. In 1856, a very important railroad leader named John I. Blair bought land here. He had it measured out into smaller pieces for building.
The Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad started offering train rides for people in July 1856. This helped the area grow. John I. Blair also built a storehouse in 1860. This building was also used as the local post office.
