History of Delhi

Delhi was started in the early 1840s. A long time ago, it was even the main town for the county. This means important government offices were once located here. A person named Emma Swinburne, who later married George C. Junkin, was from Delhi.

Geography and Location

Delhi is located at coordinates 42.428028 degrees North and -91.329971 degrees West. It is close to the Maquoketa River.

Hartwick Lake and Delhi Dam

The Delhi Dam was built on the Maquoketa River in Delhi. This dam created a lake called Hartwick Lake. In July 2010, a part of the dam broke. This caused flooding in areas downstream (further along the river).
