History of Demirören Group
Early Beginnings
The Demirören Group started its journey in 1956 in Istanbul, Turkey. It was founded by Erdoğan Demirören. Over the years, the company grew to include many different types of businesses. This made it a very large and important group in Turkey.
Growing in Media
The Demirören Group became much bigger in the media world in May 2011. They bought two well-known newspapers, Milliyet and Vatan. This was a big step for them into the news business.
A few years later, in 2018, the group made an even bigger move. They bought many more media companies from the Doğan Media Group. This included the newspapers Hürriyet and Posta. They also took over popular TV channels like Kanal D and CNN Türk. The D-Smart service, which offers TV and internet, also became part of Demirören. This made them one of the largest media owners in Turkey.
Family and Leadership
After Erdoğan Demirören passed away, President Erdoğan visited the family to share his sadness. The Demirören family is generally seen as being supportive of President Erdoğan and his political party, the Justice and Development Party.

In February 2021, the Demirören Group expanded its business outside of Turkey. They took over the lottery company in Azerbaijan, called Azerlotereya. This showed their growth into new areas and countries.
