About Demo Taped
His Early Life and Music Beginnings
Demo Taped grew up in Atlanta. He started playing the piano when he was just 4 years old. By age 7, he was already writing his own songs! His dad, who played the bass guitar, showed him lots of different kinds of music. Demo Taped says his parents were his biggest inspiration for his music career. He began making his own music tracks using a program called GarageBand to go with his lyrics.
What Kind of Music Does He Make?
Demo Taped's music is mostly electronic pop. He likes to mix different sounds and styles. He once said his music is "electronic with many other elements built in." He loves to try new things and "bend genres," which means he combines different music styles. Some musicians who have inspired him include Herbie Hancock, Flying Lotus, and Jai Paul.
Demo Taped's Music Journey
Starting His Career
Demo Taped released his first collection of songs, called an EP, in early 2015. It was named "Heart" and had three songs. Later that year, he released another song called "Not Enough."
In March 2016, he worked with RKCB on a song called "Open Arms." Then, in April 2016, he released "Game On." This was his first song with 300 Entertainment, a record label. "Game On" became one of his most well-known songs.
Working with Other Artists
Demo Taped has also worked with other musicians. In July 2016, he was featured on Karma Kid's song "Shapes." Karma Kid sent him the music, and Demo Taped added harmonies to it.
He also got to perform live for the first time at a big music event called SXSW.
Tours and Remixes
Throughout 2016, Demo Taped went on tour. He toured with NAO in the United Kingdom and with Wet in the United States. He also created a remix of Bridgit Mendler's song "Atlantis" in September 2016. A remix is when a musician takes an existing song and changes it to make a new version.
