Syd's Departure
Cat meets her friend Syd. He tells her he is leaving London. Syd plans to go on a boxing tour for several months. Cat is very sad to hear this news. She doesn't want him to go.
A Secret Promise
When Cat returns, her friend Pedro shares his plans. He will go on a tour around France with the Signor. Pedro asks Cat where she will stay. Cat is too proud to ask for help. She says she has a place, but she doesn't actually have one.
Later, Cat gets a message. Billy Shepherd wants to see her. Cat remembers she owes him a favor from a past adventure. So, she agrees to meet him.
Billy's Demands
Cat notices that Billy has become very rich. He has many jewels and a fancy house. Billy tells Cat he wants her to get the Crown Jewels for him. If she does, she will no longer owe him anything. Cat doesn't want to agree. But Billy won't let her leave until she says yes. She feels she has no choice.
A Difficult Goodbye
That evening, Syd is going out with his friends. Cat wants to join them, but Syd says no. They argue about why she can't be part of his group. Syd doesn't give a clear answer. Cat asks if he has another girlfriend. Syd then shows his feelings for Cat before quickly leaving.
Life on the Streets
The theater finally closes. Cat discovers her name is not on the list of people who will return. This means she can no longer live with the theater group. She is left alone on the streets.
A Tricky Situation
Desperate to earn money, Cat tries to sell her writings. She meets a dishonest book seller named Mr. Tweadle. He tricks her. At his home, Cat is treated badly. Mr. Tweadle publishes her stories in a magazine. He makes Cat seem like a wild and troublesome young person. Luckily, Frank and Mr. Sheridan soon rescue her.
A Spy in Paris
Mr. Sheridan wants to learn about the French Revolution. He decides to send Cat to Paris as a spy. He believes she is perfect for the job. Cat travels to Paris pretending to be a ballet student.
Challenges in France
The journey is rough. Cat gets seasick. Her fellow ballet students are not kind to her. They try to make her time with them difficult.
Soon, Cat and Frank get caught up in a revolt. They face a serious punishment. But a mysterious French boy saves them.
The King of Thieves
