Denning is a small town located in Franklin County, Arkansas, in the United States. It's part of the larger Fort Smith area, which includes parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma. In 2010, about 314 people lived there, but by 2020, the population was 200.
Geography of Denning
Denning is found in the southeastern part of Franklin County. To its north, you'll find the city of Altus.
The town covers a total area of about 2.8 square kilometers (or 1.08 square miles), and all of this area is land. There are no large bodies of water within the town limits.
In May 2011, Denning was directly hit by a tornado. This event was part of a series of strong storms that happened during that time.

Education in Denning

Before 2004, Denning had its own school district called the Altus-Denning School District. However, a new law in Arkansas required smaller schools to join with larger ones. So, the Altus-Denning School District closed. The high school's mascot was the Owls, and they competed in the 1A classification of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA).
