Dennis is a small community in Delaware County, Oklahoma. It is located near a large body of water called Grand Lake. Dennis is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the government for statistics, but it doesn't have its own city government.
In 2020, about 221 people lived in Dennis. The community is believed to be named after a local person, Peter Dennis. A post office served the area from 1914 until 1956.
Geography of Dennis
Dennis is found in the northern part of Delaware County, Oklahoma. It sits on the south side of Grand Lake.
The community is about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Jay. Jay is the main town and county seat for Delaware County. Dennis is also about 16 miles (26 km) by road southwest of the city of Grove.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the entire area of Dennis is about 4.5 square miles (11.7 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
