Dennis Haskins was born on November 18, 1950. He is an American actor. He is most famous for playing Principal Richard Belding. This role was in the popular teen TV show Saved by the Bell. That show was on NBC from 1989 to 1993.

Haskins also starred in Saved by the Bell: The New Class. This show aired from 1993 to 2000. He was also a regular on the show Good Morning, Miss Bliss.

Early Life and Education

Dennis Haskins was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He went to Our Lady of Perpetual Help school. Then he attended Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga. He later studied at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

While at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, he played basketball. He was also a member of the cheerleading squad. Haskins is part of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Today, Dennis Haskins lives in both Los Angeles and Winthrop, Massachusetts.

Before he became an actor, Haskins appeared on TV game shows. He was a contestant on Press Your Luck and Scrabble.

Television and Movies

Before becoming Principal Belding, Haskins appeared in The Dukes of Hazzard. He played different characters in several episodes. In the first episode, he played a customer at the Boar's Nest.

Haskins tried out seven times for the role of Mr. Belding. He first played the character in 1988. This was for the show Good Morning, Miss Bliss on the Disney Channel. After one year, the show changed. It became Saved by the Bell on NBC. Haskins was the only adult actor who stayed on the show.

He became well-known for his catchphrase, "Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?" He continued playing Principal Belding. He was in the spin-off show Saved by the Bell: The New Class until 2000. He also had a small appearance as himself in the 2006 movie The Boys & Girls Guide to Getting Down.

In 2015, Haskins reunited with other Saved by the Bell stars. He appeared with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez, and Tiffani Thiessen. They were on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. They did a fun Saved by the Bell sketch together. He also appeared in the 2014 movie A Million Ways to Die in the West. In that film, he played a snake oil salesman.

On August 31, 2009, Dennis Haskins released his first music album. It was called "Karaoke with Your Favorite Principal Dennis." On the album, he sang many songs. These included "Piano Man" and "Mustang Sally." He sang "Mustang Sally" as a duet with Hulk Hogan's daughter, Brooke Hogan.

In 2010, Haskins was in a music video. It was for the song "See You in Shell" by the band Iwrestledabearonce. The video made fun of Saved by the Bell and movies by John Hughes.

Haskins is also a big fan of professional wrestling. He likes WWE. He appeared in several episodes of Z! True Long Island Story. This was a YouTube series by WWE wrestler Zack Ryder.

In 2016, Haskins performed on stage with a 90s-themed band. The band was called Saved by the 90s. This happened in Toledo, Ohio, at a baseball game. Haskins also appeared in the music video for "Vacation" by Dirty Heads. He was seen lip-syncing in an empty high school. He also played a principal in the music video for "Young Dumb & Broke" by Khalid.

Awards and Recognition

Dennis Haskins received a special award in 2000. It was called The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Most Distinguished Alumni award. This award honors former students who have achieved great things.

There is also a high school academic competition named after him. It is called The Dennis Haskins Open. This competition helps students test their knowledge in different subjects. It has been held for many years.
