Max's Middle School Adventure
Max Keeble is a paperboy who is just starting middle school. He quickly finds himself facing a lot of trouble. The school principal, Elliot T. Jindrake, is not very nice. There are also school bullies named Troy McGinty and Dobbs. Plus, there's a grumpy "Evil Ice Cream Man." Max also finds out that an animal shelter near the school will be closed. Principal Jindrake wants to build a big football stadium there instead.
The Big Move Plan
Max's dad, Donald, tells him they are moving to Chicago. This is because his dad can't stand up for himself at work. Max realizes that if he's moving, he can do whatever he wants to the people who bother him. He thinks there will be no consequences since he'll be gone soon.
Max gets his friends, Robe and Megan, to help him. They are also not very popular. Max plans many pranks:
- He scares Troy by playing the theme song from a kids' show called MacGoogle the Highlander Frog. This show used to scare Troy when he was little. Then, they trap Troy in the gym with someone dressed as MacGoogle.
- He causes a fight between Dobbs and the Evil Ice Cream Man. Max steals a part from the ice cream truck and Dobbs's handheld device.
- He tries to ruin Principal Jindrake's chances of becoming the new superintendent. The current superintendent is Bobby "Crazy Legs" Knebworth, a famous former football player. Max puts animal pheromones in Jindrake's breath spray. This causes a huge food fight in the cafeteria right when Knebworth is watching. Max also messes with Jindrake's TV announcements by putting up a cardboard cutout of himself making fun of the principal.
Things Change for Max
After Max finishes his pranks, he ditches Robe and Megan's going-away party. He accepts an invitation to a milkshake party with his crush, Jenna. This makes his friends upset with him.
Then, Max's dad, Donald, takes Max's earlier advice to be brave. He announces that he quit his job and started his own business. This means Max is not moving after all! Max is shocked by this news. He also learns that other students at his school are now suffering because of his pranks.
Max Saves the Day
Max decides to face Principal Jindrake, Troy, and Dobbs one last time. With help from other students, Max finally defeats Troy and Dobbs. They throw them into a dumpster. Max also stops Jindrake from destroying the animal shelter.
Principal Jindrake gets fired and faces serious trouble for misusing school money to build his stadium. Max tricked Jindrake into admitting his crimes in public earlier.
The movie ends with Max riding his bike and delivering newspapers. The Evil Ice Cream Man starts chasing him again, just like before.
