Denny Landzaat is a former professional footballer from the Netherlands. He was born on May 6, 1976. Denny mostly played as a midfielder, helping his teams control the game from the middle of the field. After he stopped playing, he became a coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the Indonesia national football team.

Club Career Highlights
Early Days in Football
Denny Landzaat started his football journey at the famous Ajax youth academy. This is where many great Dutch players learn their skills. However, he only played one league game for Ajax's main team.
After Ajax, he played for several other Dutch clubs. He had long and successful times with MVV, Willem II, and AZ. At AZ, he even became the team captain during the 2005–06 season. That year, AZ finished second in the top Dutch league, the Eredivisie.
Playing for Wigan Athletic
In July 2006, Denny Landzaat moved to England to play for Premier League club Wigan Athletic. He signed a three-year contract. He scored his first goal for Wigan against Reading in January 2007.
He also scored a fantastic goal from about 30 yards away against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. In August 2007, he scored his first goal at Wigan's home stadium, the JJB Stadium, from a penalty kick against Sunderland. He also scored the first goal in a big 5–3 win against local rivals Blackburn Rovers.
Time at Feyenoord
In January 2008, Denny returned to the Netherlands. He joined Feyenoord, another big Dutch club. He signed a contract for three and a half years. He scored his first goal for Feyenoord in his very first game. It was a 3–3 draw against Heracles in February 2008.
Winning with Twente
After his time at Feyenoord, Landzaat joined Twente in August 2010. He signed a one-year deal, which was later extended. With Twente, he won the KNVB Cup in the 2010–11 season. This is a major cup competition in Dutch football.
Back to Willem II
In 2013, Denny's contract with Twente ended. He didn't find a new team right away. But in January 2014, he signed a contract with Willem II again, the club he had played for before. He played until the end of that season. He helped Willem II get promoted back to the Eredivisie, the top league. After that, he retired from playing professional football.
Playing for the Netherlands
Denny Landzaat also played for the Dutch national team. He was part of the squad for the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship. He also played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. He played 38 games for his country and scored 1 goal.
Life After Playing: Coaching
After retiring as a player in 2014, Denny Landzaat started a new career as a coach. He first joined AZ Alkmaar as an individual coach. He helped players from the main team and the youth team, Jong AZ. A year later, he also became an assistant manager for Jong AZ.
In 2016, he became the manager of AZ's Under-15 team. He also continued his coaching roles for the older teams. Later, he took charge of the club's Under-17 squad. He even worked as an advisor for the Netherlands national football team under coach Danny Blind.
In 2017, he became an assistant manager for Jong AZ again. In 2018, he joined Feyenoord as an assistant coach. He later worked as an assistant coach for clubs in Saudi Arabia and Poland, like Al-Ittihad and Lech Poznań. In 2024, he was an assistant coach for Ferencváros in Hungary. Now, he is an assistant coach for the Indonesia national football team.
