Discovering Denton's Past
Denton was started in 1871. This happened when the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad built its tracks to this spot. The village was named after Daniel M. Denton. He was the first person to own the land where the town now stands. Denton officially became a village in 1913. This means it got its own local government.
In 1930, a big fire sadly burned down many buildings in the village. This made things even harder for local businesses. They were already struggling because of the stock market crash that happened just a year before.
