Dentyne is a popular brand of chewing gum and breath mints. You can find Dentyne products in many countries around the world. It is currently owned by a company called Perfetti Van Melle.

Dentyne was first created in 1899 by Franklin V. Canning. He was a pharmacist, also known as a druggist, in New York City. He made a chewing gum that he said would help keep teeth clean and breath fresh. The gum's package even said, "To prevent decay, To sweeten the breath, To keep teeth white."

Mr. Canning named his new gum Dentyne. This name combines the words "dental" and "hygiene." It also sounds like the word dentine, which is a part of your tooth. In 1916, the Dentyne brand was sold to the American Chicle Company. By the 1930s, the Adams Gum Company was making Dentyne. Adams Gum was part of the American Chicle Company.

Different Dentyne Products

Dentyne makes several kinds of gum and mints. Each one has its own special flavors and features.

Dentyne Gum Flavors

There are many types of Dentyne chewing gum. They come in various flavors, from classic cinnamon to intense mints and fruity options.

Dentyne Classic Gum

The very first Dentyne gum had a cinnamon flavor and contained sugar. It was made to freshen breath. Dentyne Classic was taken off the market in America and Canada in 2006. It was brought back for a short time, but then removed again in 2019.

Dentyne Ice Gum

Dentyne Ice is a sugar-free gum. It comes in many "intense" mint flavors. Some popular flavors are "Peppermint," "Arctic Chill," and "Spearmint." There are also flavors like "Shiver Mint" and "Vanilla Frost."

In some countries outside the U.S., Dentyne Ice has different flavors and packaging. For example, in Southeast Asia, the packs have nine pieces of gum instead of twelve. You might find flavors like "Mentholyptus" or "Midnight Mint" there.

Dentyne Fire Gum

Dentyne Fire is a sugar-free gum with a "Spicy Cinnamon" flavor. This flavor is very similar to the original Dentyne gum. It gives you a warm, spicy taste.

Dentyne Pure Gum

Dentyne Pure is a special gum that claims to help with bad breath. It says it can get rid of odors caused by bacteria and food in your mouth.

Dentyne Tango Gum

Dentyne Tango gum comes in purple packaging. It has a "Mixed Berry" flavor, which means it tastes like fruit instead of mint.

Dentyne Shine Gum

Dentyne Shine was a new product launched in Canada in 2009. It was Dentyne's version of a whitening gum, similar to other brands that help make teeth look brighter.

Dentyne Mints

Dentyne Mints are small breath mints. They are made by Cadbury Adams, which is part of Cadbury. The mints come in two main flavors: Ice (mint) and Fire (cinnamon).

The mints are shaped like small, rounded squares. Dentyne Ice Mints are white, and Dentyne Fire Mints are red. They don't have any words or designs printed on them.

Dentyne Mints come in a plastic box that is shaped like a rectangle with soft edges. The top of the box has a sliding cover. You slide this cover to open the box and get a mint. Each package usually contains 50 mints.
