Denver is a small city in Bremer County, Iowa. It's located in the U.S. state of Iowa. In 2020, about 1,919 people lived there. Denver is part of the larger WaterlooCedar Falls area. This area is known as a Metropolitan Statistical Area.

A Look Back in Time

Denver wasn't always called Denver! It was first known as Jefferson City. The name changed when a special mail service, called the Star Mail Route, started. This service helped towns that didn't have federal mail delivery.

Later, in 1863, a federal post office opened in the town. That's when the name officially changed to Denver. The community became an official city on June 30, 1896.
