Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro facts for kids
The Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro is a very important job in the government of Montenegro. This person is like a helper or assistant to the Prime Minister. Their official title in Montenegrin is Potpredsjednik Vlade Crne Gore.
Usually, when different political parties work together to form a government, the smaller parties get to have one of their members become a Deputy Prime Minister. These deputies are often ranked based on how big their party is.
How the Job Started
The role of Deputy Prime Minister in Montenegro began on February 15, 1991. This was during the first government led by Milo Đukanović. At first, three people held this position at the same time: Blagoje Lučić, Vuk Ognjenović, and Zoran Žižić.
Since then, it has been common for several people to be Deputy Prime Ministers at once. For example, in one government led by Filip Vujanović, there were five Deputy Prime Ministers! Sometimes, a Deputy Prime Minister also has another job in the government, like leading a ministry. For instance, Dritan Abazović was a Deputy Prime Minister in the 42nd government of Montenegro.
