Collections and Exhibitions
What the Museum Collects
The Design Museum Holon collects and shows off many cool design items. These items are grouped into four main types:
- Historical Design: This includes old designs from the past.
- Contemporary Design: These are new designs from today.
- Commissioned Works: These are special designs made just for the museum.
- Academic Projects: These are designs created by students or researchers.
Past Exhibitions to Explore
The museum often has exciting exhibitions. These shows help visitors learn about different design ideas. For example, some exhibitions have focused on food-related design. Others have explored how everyday objects are designed. There have also been shows about how emotions play a role in design.
The museum has also featured the work of famous international designers. These include Alber Elbaz, Lea Gottlieb, Jaime Hayon, and Stephen Jones.
The Alessi Exhibition
In 2015 and again in 2017, the museum held a special exhibition. It showed designs created for a company called Alessi. What was unique is that these designs were never actually made! The shows included work from many designers. Some of these were Andrea Branzi, Gary Chang, Scott Henderson, Hans Hollein, Toyo Ito, Marcel Wanders, and Zaha Hadid.
