Desmond Ferguson was born on July 22, 1977, in Lansing, Michigan. He is an American former professional basketball player. He also worked as a coach. His last team as a player was the Halifax Rainmen in the PBL.

Desmond Ferguson's Basketball Journey
Desmond Ferguson played college basketball for two different teams. He started with the Missouri Tigers for his first year. After that, he played his last three college seasons with the Detroit Mercy Titans.
Playing in the NBA
In March 2004, Desmond Ferguson signed a short contract with the National Basketball Association's Portland Trail Blazers. He played in seven games with them during the 2003–04 NBA season. Later, the Charlotte Bobcats chose him in the 2004 NBA expansion draft. However, he was released before that season began.
Ferguson's time in the NBA was brief, lasting only about two weeks. His final NBA game was on April 14, 2004. It was a close game where the Trail Blazers lost 105–104 to the Los Angeles Lakers. The game went into double overtime. Ferguson played for about three and a half minutes and scored 3 points.
Achievements in the CBA
Desmond Ferguson was a very good player in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He was chosen for the All-CBA First Team twice. This happened in both 2007 and 2008, showing he was one of the best players in the league during those years.
Life After Playing
Desmond Ferguson stopped playing professional basketball in 2011. After retiring, he became a high school coach. He coached at Everett High School in Lansing, which was his own former school. He coached there until 2017. Then, he decided to leave coaching to focus on his business interests.
