Desmond Penigar (born July 16, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a forward and stands 6 feet 7 inches tall. Desmond went to Utah State University and Ventura College for his college basketball. He was part of the Orlando Magic team in the National Basketball Association during the 2003–04 season.
Desmond Penigar also played for the Asheville Altitude. With this team, he won the 2003–04 National Basketball Development League Rookie of the Year award. After playing in the United States, he continued his basketball career overseas. He played professionally in countries like South Korea, Germany, Austria, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

Early Basketball Journey
Desmond Penigar started playing basketball in high school. He was a top player at Upland High School in California. In 1998 and 1999, he was chosen for the first-team all-league and all-county selections.
College Success
After high school, Desmond played at Ventura College from 1999 to 2001. He was recognized as a top junior college player in California. He earned first-team all-conference and all-state honors in 2000 and 2001.
Later, he moved to Utah State University, playing for the Utah State team from 2001 to 2003. During his time there, the team achieved great success. In 2002, Utah State won the Big West Conference Regular Season Championship. They also reached the Big West Conference Tournament Final.
