Desolación Island (which means Desolation Island in Spanish) is an island located at the western end of the Strait of Magellan. This strait is a famous waterway in Chile, a country in South America.

The island's northwestern tip is called Cabo Pilar (Cape Pillar). This cape marks the important entrance to the Strait of Magellan. Near Cape Pillar, there are three rocks in the sea known as Islotes Evangelistas (the Apostles).
