Dexter Lamar Jackson (born July 28, 1977) is a former American football player. He played as a safety in the National Football League (NFL). Jackson was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1999 NFL Draft. He is famous for winning a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers. He was also named the Super Bowl MVP for his amazing performance in that game.

Playing College Football
Dexter Jackson went to Florida State University. He played football there and was a letterman. This means he earned a special award for playing well. He was named an All-Atlantic Coast Conference player in his junior year. During his college career, he made 194 tackles. He also caught 7 interceptions and blocked four field goals.
Becoming a Pro Football Player
Dexter Jackson was picked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL draft. This was the 113th player chosen overall. He played his very first NFL game against the Denver Broncos.
Super Bowl Champion!
Dexter Jackson became the MVP of Super Bowl XXXVII. In that big game, he made two important interceptions. He was the first safety to win this award since 1973. Only two other defensive backs had won it before him. This made him a true football star.
Playing for Other Teams
After winning the Super Bowl, Jackson became a free agent. This meant he could sign with any team. He decided to join the Arizona Cardinals. He played with them for a couple of seasons.
In 2004, Dexter Jackson returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played with them until the end of the 2005 season.
Before the 2006 season, Jackson signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played three seasons with the Bengals. He was released from the team in March 2009.
Jackson finished his professional football career with the Florida Tuskers. This team was part of the United Football League. He played for the Tuskers during the 2009 season before he retired from playing.

After his playing career, Dexter Jackson started coaching. He has coached in the Atlanta area. He uses a private coaching service called CoachUp.
Jackson also worked as the Youth & Recreation Manager for the Tampa Housing Authority. This is a non-profit group in Tampa. He helped with youth and recreation programs.
Dexter Jackson is married to Tina Jackson. They have four daughters named Jazmine, Daisia, Meah, and Taylor.
