Diamond is a small village located in Grundy and Will Counties, Illinois. In 2020, about 2,640 people lived there. It's a friendly community with a rich history.

History of Diamond Village
The area where Diamond is now was once a busy coal town. A post office opened here in 1872. The village got its name because it was in the middle of a special coal mining area. This area was known as the "Black Diamond" coal district.
Important Events in Diamond's Past
On February 16, 1883, the Diamond Mine had a big flood. This event was a sad time for the community. A special monument was later built in Diamond to remember what happened.
More recently, on November 17, 2013, an EF-2 tornado passed through Diamond. The community worked together to recover after the storm.
