Richard A. King, often known as Dick King, was an important American politician and teacher. He came from the state of Washington. He spent many years helping his community as a representative in the state government. He was also a beloved teacher at a college for over 30 years.

Early Life and Education
Dick King was born in Ritzville, Washington, on August 30, 1934. He went to the University of Washington. There, he earned two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.). These degrees helped him prepare for his future career.
A Dedicated Teacher
Besides being a politician, Dick King was also a dedicated educator. He taught at Everett Community College for 31 years. He worked there until he retired in the 1990s. Teaching was a big part of his life.
Serving the Public in Politics
Dick King was a member of the Democratic Party. He served in the Washington House of Representatives. This is a part of the state government that makes laws. He represented the 38th district, which included parts of Snohomish County.
He was a state representative for a very long time. From 1965 to 1994, he served 15 terms in a row. This means he was elected again and again by the people he represented. He worked as the Majority Leader from 1977 to 1981. Later, he was the Minority Leader from 1981 to 1982.

Dick King was married to Mary King. Together, they had four children. He passed away on January 15, 2018.
