The Dickinson Museum Center is a cool place in Dickinson, North Dakota. It's a museum complex that helps us learn about history. This center tells the story of Dickinson, Stark County, and all of Southwest North Dakota. The museum is set in a big park, about 12 acres wide! That's like 9 football fields. It has many buildings and different groups help run it.

Explore the Badlands Dinosaur Museum

This museum is home to thousands of cool rocks, minerals, and fossils. You can see a full Triceratops skeleton here! There are also amazing feathered dinosaur models. These models were made by an artist named Boban Filipovic.

The museum used to be called "Dakota Dinosaur Museum." It was run privately from 1993 to 2015. Since December 2015, the City of Dickinson has owned and operated it. In 2017, it got its new name, the Badlands Dinosaur Museum.

Discover the Joachim Regional Museum

The Joachim Regional Museum shows off local art and history. The Southwestern North Dakota Museum Foundation helps manage it. You can see a Western art gallery and a dollhouse here. There's also a special room for reading and research.

Step Back in Time at Prairie Outpost Park

This park has ten buildings that show what life was like long ago. Five of them are real historic buildings. The other five are copies of old buildings. Different groups use the park for events. These groups celebrate their heritage. This includes Czech, Scandinavian, and Germans from Russia traditions.

The historic buildings include an old house, a train station, and a general store. There's also a church and a school. The copied buildings include a print shop and a stone house. You can also see a Czech town hall and a Scandinavian Stabbur. Don't forget the blacksmith shop!

Other cool things in the park are a picnic shelter and a veteran's chapel. There's also an oil pumpjack and a coal car. You can see a Northern Pacific train caboose and a windmill too.

See Old Machines at Pioneer Machinery Hall

This museum focuses on how people farmed and ranched long ago. It's all about the early history of Stark County. You can see big threshing machines and old tractors. There's also other farm equipment, both horse-drawn and mechanized. The Stark County Historical Society runs this museum. It's located right in Prairie Outpost Park.
