Didier Couécou (born 25 July 1944) is a former French footballer. He played as a striker, which means he was a player whose main job was to score goals. Didier was also part of the France national football team that played in the FIFA World Cup 1966.

Early Career with Bordeaux

Didier started his professional career with Bordeaux in 1963. He played for them for six years, until 1969. During this time, he played in 133 games and scored 59 goals. This was a strong start to his career.

Moving to Other Clubs

After his first time at Bordeaux, Didier played for a few other teams:

  • He joined Nice in 1969 for one season.
  • From 1970 to 1972, he played for Marseille. He scored 22 goals in 63 games for them.
  • Then, he moved to Nantes and played there from 1972 to 1974.

Return to Marseille and Bordeaux

In 1974, Didier Couécou returned to Marseille for a short period. Later that same year, he went back to his first club, Bordeaux. He played for Bordeaux again until 1976, which was the end of his playing career. In total, he played 310 games and scored 118 goals in his club career.

Playing for France
