Diego de Muros (also known as Diego de Moiras) was an important leader in the Catholic Church during the 1400s. He was a bishop in Spain. He served as the Bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo from 1487 to 1492. Before that, he was the Bishop of Tui from 1472 to 1487.
Interestingly, there were three bishops in Spain at the same time named Diego de Muros! Our Diego de Muros is sometimes called Diego de Muros I to tell him apart. The other two were the Bishop of Islas Canarias and the Bishop of Oviedo.

Life of Diego de Muros
Diego de Muros was born in 1405 in a town called Muros, A Coruña, in Spain. He decided to dedicate his life to the church. He became a priest in a religious group known as the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy. This order is also called the Mercedarians.
Becoming a Bishop
Diego de Muros was chosen to become a bishop on June 15, 1472. This happened during the time when Pope Sixtus IV was the leader of the Catholic Church. His first role as a bishop was in the city of Tui.
He was officially made a bishop on January 31, 1473. This special ceremony is called a consecration. Šimun Vosić, who was an Archbishop at the time, led the ceremony. Two other bishops, Deodato Bocconi and Giovanni Andrea de Bussi, also helped.
Serving in Ciudad Rodrigo
After serving in Tui for many years, Diego de Muros received a new appointment. On June 1, 1487, he was named the Bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo. This appointment was made by Pope Innocent VIII.
He continued to serve the church in Ciudad Rodrigo until he passed away. Diego de Muros died in 1492 in Ciudad Rodrigo, Spain. He was 87 years old.
