Diehlstadt is a small village in Scott County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, about 157 people lived there. The village was started by a person named John Kirkpatrick.

History of Diehlstadt
Diehlstadt was officially planned out in 1868. The first map of the town, called a "plat," was filed on June 15, 1870. It showed that the town covered about 40 acres.
The community was founded by John Kirkpatrick (1829-1903). He was born in Tennessee. John was one of the first shopkeepers in Diehlstadt. He also worked as the village's postmaster from 1876 to 1890.
The village got its name from H. J. Deal (also spelled Diehl). He was a German merchant. The word "stadt" is German for "town." So, Diehlstadt means "Diehl's town." A post office opened in Diehlstadt in 1870 and stayed open until 1977.
Where is Diehlstadt?
Diehlstadt is in the southeastern part of Scott County. It is about six miles southeast of the Mississippi River. It is also nine miles northeast of Sikeston.
The village is located right on Missouri Route 77. It is 2.5 miles north of U.S. Route 62.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Diehlstadt is very small. It covers about 0.07 square miles (0.19 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.
