Dilara Kazimova (born on May 20, 1984) is a talented singer and actress from Azerbaijan. She became well-known when she represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with her song "Start a Fire". This big music competition took place in Copenhagen, Denmark.

About Dilara Kazimova's Music Journey
Early Life and Bands
Dilara Kazimova was born in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. She loved music from a young age and studied singing at the Baku Academy of Music. After finishing her studies, she even performed with an opera group for a short time.
In the early 2000s, Dilara joined a rock band called Unformal. Later, she became the lead singer of a music duo named Milk & Kisses. Both of these bands tried to represent Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest before Dilara did it on her own. Unformal came in second place in the national competition in 2008. Milk & Kisses also finished second in the national competition in 2010.
In 2010, the duo Milk & Kisses also performed at a music festival called New Wave in Jurmala, Latvia. They were one of 17 groups competing.
Eurovision Success
In 2014, Dilara decided to try out for the Eurovision Song Contest by herself. She won the Azerbaijani selection competition! Her song, "Start a Fire", was released on March 16, 2014, along with its music video.
Dilara performed "Start a Fire" in the first semi-final of the Eurovision contest. She did very well, placing 9th and earning enough points to move on to the Grand Final. In the final competition, she finished in 22nd place.
Other Performances and Acting
Besides Eurovision, Dilara also appeared on a TV show in Ukraine in 2014. It was a reality talent show called Holos Krayiny, which is part of the famous The Voice series. She was coached by Svyatoslav Vakarchuk on the show.
Dilara has also shown her acting skills in two Azerbaijani movies. She starred in Try Not to Breathe in 2006. In 2007, she had a supporting role in a film called Purgatory. For Purgatory, her band Unformal recorded the soundtrack song "Sonsuz yol".
In May 2022, Dilara performed at the EuroVillage festival in Baku. This festival helps to promote teamwork and friendship between the European Union and Azerbaijan.
