Dimosthenis "Dimos" Dikoudis is a famous former Greek professional basketball player. He was born on June 24, 1977, in Larissa, Greece. Dimos was a tall player, standing at 2.08 meters (6 feet 10 inches). He played as a power forward and center. In 2022, Dimos Dikoudis was honored by being added to the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame.

Early Life and First Steps in Sports
Dimos Dikoudis started playing football when he was 10 years old. Later, he tried Taekwondo, a type of martial art. After two years, he found his true passion: basketball. He began playing for his school team.
Winning His First Titles
With his school team, Dimos won the city championship. This was his very first title! Soon after, he joined his first basketball club, Perseas in Larissa. He played there until he was 18. During his time with Perseas, he won four city and state championships. He also helped his team win a national title.
Professional Basketball Career
Dimos Dikoudis began his professional basketball journey in 1995. He signed his first contract with Olympia Larissas.
Playing in the Greek Leagues
He played for Olympia Larissas for three seasons. For two of those seasons, he played in the Greek 2nd Division. He was amazing, leading the league in both scoring and rebounding. In his last season there, he was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Greek 2nd Division.
Joining AEK Athens
In 1998, Dimos moved to a bigger team, AEK Athens, which played in the top Greek League. He stayed with AEK for five seasons. With AEK, he won several important titles. These included the FIBA Saporta Cup, the Greek League championship, and two Greek Cups. He was recognized as the Best Young Player in 2000. In 2002, he was named the Greek League MVP.
Playing in Spain and Russia
In 2003, Dimos decided to play outside Greece. He joined the Spanish team Valencia. He played there for one year. After that, he moved to Russia to play for CSKA Moscow. With CSKA, he won the Russian Championship and the Russian Cup in 2005. That same year, he played in the EuroLeague Final Four tournament.
Returning to Greece and Winning the Triple Crown
In 2005, Dimos returned to Valencia. In 2006, he came back to Greece and joined Panathinaikos. With Panathinaikos, he achieved a huge success in the 2006–07 season. His team won the Triple Crown. This means they won the EuroLeague, the Greek League, and the Greek Cup all in the same season!
Later Career Teams
In December 2008, Dimos joined Panionios. He later played for Aris Thessaloniki in 2009. After seven years, he returned to AEK Athens for another season. His final professional team was PAOK, where he played in 2011–2012.
Playing for the Greek National Team
Dimos Dikoudis also had a great career playing for the senior Greece national team. His first game for the national team was on November 24, 1999.
Major Tournaments and Medals
He played in several big international tournaments, including the 2001 EuroBasket and the 2003 EuroBasket. He also represented Greece at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens.
A highlight of his national team career was winning the gold medal at the 2005 EuroBasket on September 25, 2005. The next year, on September 3, 2006, he helped Greece win a silver medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship. He also played in the 2007 EuroBasket.
Life After Playing: Managerial Roles
After retiring as a player, Dimos Dikoudis continued to be involved in basketball.
Leadership Positions
In September 2006, he became the President of the Panhellenic Association of Paid Basketball Players (P.S.A.K.). He held this position until October 2010. In 2013, he became the Sports Director for the Greek League club AEK. More recently, in 2021, he took on the role of Administrative Manager for the senior Greece national team.
