Dina Alekseyevna Averina (born August 13, 1998) is a Russian former rhythmic gymnast. She is famous for being a four-time World All-around Champion. She won these titles in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021.

Dina also earned a silver medal in the All-around event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She has won many other medals at European Championships, European Games, and World Cups. Her identical twin sister, Arina Averina, is also a talented rhythmic gymnast.

About Dina Averina

Dina Averina and her twin sister Arina were born on August 13, 1998. They started gymnastics when they were four years old. Their first coach was Larisa Belova. Later, they trained at the Olympic Training Center in Moscow with coach Vera Shatalina.

Dina and Arina are identical twins. Dina has a mole on her lower right cheekbone, while Arina's is on her upper right. Arina also has a small scar above her right eye from a gymnastics accident. They have an older sister named Polina.

In 2020, Dina had a serious back injury. She decided not to have surgery right away so she could prepare for the postponed Olympics. This meant she had to limit some difficult moves to avoid making her injury worse. Dina announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics in February 2024. She had wrist surgery in April 2024. As of 2025, she is married to Russian figure skater Dmitri Soloviev. They got married in Moscow on July 7.

Dina's Gymnastics Journey

Early Career

Dina and Arina Averina started competing internationally in 2011. At the 2011 Russian-Chinese Youth Games, Dina won the gold medal in the all-around. In 2012, she won the all-around gold at the Venera Cup in Israel. She also helped her team win gold at the International MTM Cup.

In 2013, Dina won a bronze medal at the Russian Junior Championships. She also won a team gold medal with Arina at the Happy Caravan Cup.

Senior Competitions

2014-2016: Rising Star

Dina began competing as a senior gymnast in 2014. She won a bronze medal at the 2014 Lisboa World Cup. In 2015, she won several gold medals at smaller international tournaments. She also earned a bronze medal at the Russian Championships.

In 2016, Dina continued to improve. She won the all-around gold medal at the Berlin World Cup. She also earned a silver medal at the Grand Prix Final in Israel.

2017: First World Champion Title

The year 2017 was a big one for Dina. She won the all-around gold at the Grand Prix Moscow. She also became the Russian National Champion. At the 2017 European Championships, she was part of the Russian team that won gold. She also won two gold medals in individual events.

At the 2017 World Championships in Italy, Dina became the All-around Champion. She also won gold medals in hoop and clubs, and silver medals in ball and ribbon.

2018-2019: More World Titles

Dina continued her success in 2018. She won the all-around gold at the Grand Prix Moscow and Pesaro World Cup. At the 2018 World Championships in Bulgaria, she won her second consecutive All-around gold medal. She also won gold in hoop, ball, clubs, and team.

In 2019, Dina won more gold medals at the European Championships and European Games. At the 2019 World Championships in Azerbaijan, she won her third straight All-around gold medal. She also took gold in ball, clubs, ribbon, and team.

2021: Tokyo Olympics and Fourth World Title

Dina had a strong start to 2021, winning gold at several Grand Prix and World Cup events. At the European Championships, she won a bronze in the all-around and multiple gold medals in individual events.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), Dina was the top qualifier for the all-around final. In the final, she won the silver medal. This was a very close competition.

After the Olympics, Dina competed at the World Championships in Japan. She won her fourth consecutive All-around gold medal, setting a new record for the most world titles by a rhythmic gymnast. She also won gold in hoop, ball, and clubs, and a silver in ribbon.

Retirement

Dina Averina officially retired from rhythmic gymnastics in February 2024.

Dina Averina was known for her fast and exciting routines. She was also known for her amazing control of the gymnastics equipment. She was one of the few rhythmic gymnasts to achieve a perfect Difficulty score of 10 in her clubs routine.
