Becoming a Music Star
Dinesh grew up in Modara, Sri Lanka. He first studied information technology (IT) in India. Later, he taught IT courses back in Sri Lanka. But his real passion was music!
He started working with local musicians in his free time. In 2004, a Sri Lankan artist named Bathiya gave him a big chance. Dinesh began recording rap songs. Soon, another music director, Vijay Antony, discovered his talent.
Dinesh worked with Vijay Antony on the song "Aathichudi" for the movie TN 07 AL 4777 in 2009. This song was a new version of "Surangani" from Dinesh's first independent album, Tamizha. In 2005, he also made a special album called Cross Culture. It had songs in Tamil, Sinhala, and English.
Working with Big Names
Dinesh's music career really took off when he worked with the famous composer A. R. Rahman. Their first song together was "Magudi" for the movie Kadal (2013). This was a huge step for him!
He also sang "Mun Sellada" with Anirudh Ravichander for the movie Manithan (2016). Santhosh Narayanan composed this song.
Dinesh and another rapper, Sri Rascol, even started their own music label called Rap Machines. They have released many rap songs through it.
More Movie Hits and Concerts
Dinesh kept working in Tamil and Telugu movies. He wrote and performed English rap parts for many soundtracks. Some of these include the title song "Maayon" in Mersal (2017), which was also composed by A. R. Rahman. He also sang "Gala Gala" in Race Gurram and worked on music for 2.0 (2018).
Besides movies, Dinesh loves performing live! He has been on concert tours in Sri Lanka, the Middle East, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. He is famous for his rap battles during A. R. Rahman's concerts. He often battles with other rappers like Lady Kash and Blaaze. In 2019, he performed with Bathiya and Santhush at a concert called Oba Nisa in Sri Lanka.
