Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, also known as A. D. K. or Dinesh Kanagaratnam, is a talented musician from Sri Lanka. He is known for his R&B and hip hop music. He writes and performs songs in Tamil language. A.D.K. also often works with music directors in Tamil cinema, singing songs for movies.

A.D.K.'s Early Life and Music Journey

Dinesh was born in Badulla, Sri Lanka, and grew up in Modara. He studied information technology (IT) in India. After his studies, he taught IT courses in Sri Lanka. But his real passion was music! He started working with local musicians in his free time.

How A.D.K. Started in Music

In 2004, a Sri Lankan artist named Bathiya gave him a chance. Dinesh began recording rap songs. Later, he was discovered by Vijay Antony, a music director. They worked together on the song "Aathichudi" for the movie TN 07 AL 4777 in 2009. This song was a new version of "Surangani" from Dinesh's first independent album, Tamizha. In 2005, he also made an album called Cross Culture with songs in Tamil, Sinhala, and English.

Working with Famous Music Directors

Dinesh's big break in the movie industry came with the song "Magudi." This was his first time working with the famous music composer A. R. Rahman. The song was for the movie Kadal (2013). He also sang "Mun Sellada" with Anirudh Ravichander for the film Manithan (2016).

A.D.K. and another rapper, Sri Rascol, started their own music label called Rap Machines. They have created many rap songs together.

A.D.K.'s Work in Movies and Concerts

Dinesh continued to work in Tamil and Telugu movies. He wrote and performed English rap songs for movie soundtracks. Some of these include the title song "Maayon" for Mersal (2017), composed by A. R. Rahman. He also sang "Gala Gala" with Megha from Race Gurram. He even worked on the movie 2.0 (2018).

A.D.K. has performed in many concerts around the world. He has toured in Sri Lanka, the Middle East, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. He is well-known for his exciting rap battles during A. R. Rahman's concerts. He often performs alongside artists like Lady Kash and Blaaze. In January 2019, he performed with Bathiya and Santhush at a concert called Oba Nisa in Sri Lanka.
