Dinosaur World is a chain of outdoor dinosaur theme parks in the United States. These parks are special because they feature over 150 life-size dinosaur sculptures! You can find Dinosaur World locations in Plant City, Florida; Glen Rose, Texas; and Cave City, Kentucky.
The amazing dinosaur sculptures were created by Christer Svensson. The first Dinosaur World park opened in Plant City, Florida, in November 1998. The Kentucky location opened five years later, and the Texas park followed five years after that.
What to See and Do
At each Dinosaur World park, you'll find huge dinosaur statues placed among real plants and water. This setup makes it feel like you're seeing actual dinosaurs in their natural homes. You can even spot different types of plants that were around when dinosaurs lived. Small signs help you learn about these ancient plants.
Fun Activities
The parks offer exciting activities for visitors. At the "Fossil Dig," kids can dig in a sand table to find real fossils. It's like being a paleontologist! There's also a "Dino Gem" excavation activity where you can search for cool gems.
How Dinosaurs Are Made
The incredible dinosaur sculptures at Dinosaur World are made right at the park. First, a shape is carved from polystyrene foam. Then, it's covered with fiberglass and a special putty. This putty is textured to look like dinosaur skin, and then it's painted with realistic colors. About three new dinosaur replicas are added to the parks each year. The Plant City park in Florida has nearly 200 sculptures on display!
