Studying Art in Barcelona
Baixeras started studying art at a young age. He attended the La Lonja School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. There, he learned from famous Catalan painters. These included Agustín Rigalt, Martí Alsina, and Antonio Caba.
Joining an Artistic Group
Dionís and his brothers, Juan and Jose Llimonas, were part of an art group. This group was called the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc. It was formed in Barcelona in the early 1890s. Many artists and sculptors joined this circle. Even famous architects like Gaudí were members.
Learning in Paris
When he was 24, Baixeras moved to Paris for four years. He spent time in the countryside, painting nature scenes. In Paris, he was very impressed by the realistic style of other artists. Painters like Jean-François Millet and Jules Bastien-Lepage inspired him. Their style greatly influenced his own work. After this, he returned to Barcelona.
Popularity and Success
Baixeras often showed his paintings in exhibitions. With help from Antonio Blanch, he sold many of his artworks. People loved his paintings of everyday life. This made his work very popular and successful.
