Diontae Spencer, born on March 19, 1992, is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver and a return specialist. Diontae was born in New Iberia, Louisiana.

He played college football for the McNeese State Cowboys. While in college, he once gained an amazing 365 yards in a single game, scoring five touchdowns! Diontae started his professional career in 2015 with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL. He has also played for NFL teams like the St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers, and for the Ottawa Redblacks in the CFL.

Diontae Spencer's Football Journey

After finishing college, Diontae Spencer was not chosen in the 2014 NFL draft right away. However, he got a chance to try out for the Chicago Bears during their spring mini-camp.

Playing for the St. Louis Rams

Diontae signed with the St. Louis Rams on May 27, 2014. He was with the team for a short time before leaving in July of that year.

Time with the Toronto Argonauts

In December 2014, Diontae signed with the Toronto Argonauts. He had two very good seasons playing for them. He caught 107 passes for 1,208 yards and scored six touchdowns. He also did a lot of work returning punts and kickoffs.

Joining the Ottawa Redblacks

Diontae signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on the second day of free agency. On October 27, 2017, he set a new CFL record in a game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He gained an incredible 496 all-purpose yards! This included 133 yards from catching passes, 165 yards from returning kickoffs, and 169 yards from returning punts.

Diontae had a fantastic 2017 season with the Redblacks. He caught 71 passes for 922 yards and scored six touchdowns. He was also named a CFL-East All-Star for his amazing work as a returner.

In January 2018, Diontae even had a tryout with an NFL team, the Baltimore Ravens. However, he decided to sign a new contract with the Redblacks in February 2018. In 2018, he gained over 1,000 yards receiving for the first time in his career. He was again chosen as a CFL-East All-Star for his return skills. The Redblacks made it to the CFL championship game, the 106th Grey Cup. Sadly, Diontae fumbled the ball during a return, and his team lost to Calgary, 27–16.

Playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers

On January 4, 2019, Diontae signed a special contract to join the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. He was with the team until August 31, 2019, when he left.

Time with the Denver Broncos

On September 1, 2019, the Denver Broncos picked up Diontae. He signed a one-year contract with the Broncos on April 18, 2020. He was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team on November 27, 2020, but was able to return on December 10.

Diontae scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 14 of the 2020 season. He returned a punt 83 yards against the Carolina Panthers, helping his team win 32–27. Because of his great performance, he was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Broncos offered Diontae another one-year contract on March 16, 2021, which he signed on April 16.

With the New York Jets

On September 6, 2022, Diontae Spencer signed with the practice squad of the New York Jets. He was released from the practice squad on September 14, but then re-signed on September 20. He was released again a week later, but then re-signed on October 11. He signed a contract to join the team later on January 31, 2023. He was placed on injured reserve on July 19, 2023, but left the team nine days later after an injury settlement.
