Dixon is a small city in Webster County, Kentucky. It is the main town, also known as the county seat. In 2020, about 933 people lived there. Dixon is found where two main roads meet: US 41A and KY 132. The town started in 1860 with a courthouse and a post office.

History of Dixon
Early Beginnings
In 1794, a man named William Jenkins set up a special place called a stagecoach inn. This was a stop for travelers using horse-drawn carriages. It was located about five miles (8 km) north of where Dixon is today. This inn was on an old trail that connected Nashville and St. Louis. William Jenkins was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War.
Becoming a City
Dixon officially became a city on February 6, 1861. It was named after Archibald Dixon. He was an important person in Kentucky politics. He served as the state's lieutenant governor from 1844 to 1848. Later, he was a U.S. Senator from 1852 to 1855.
Interesting Events
In the late 1700s, two famous outlaws, the Harpe brothers, caused trouble in the area. The downtown part of Dixon has several old homes. It was also a place where small battles happened during the American Civil War.

Dixon is located in western Kentucky. Its exact location is 37°30′36″N 87°41′55″W / 37.510094°N 87.698539°W.
The city covers a total area of about 1.0 square mile (2.6 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 0.9 square miles (2.3 square kilometers), is land. A very small part, about 1.04%, is water.

Schools and Learning
Public Schools
The Webster County School District runs the public schools in Dixon.
- Dixon Elementary School teaches students from PreSchool up to 6th grade. Before 2014, it also included 7th and 8th grades.
- Webster County Middle School is for students in 7th and 8th grades. It opened in the 2014–2015 school year.
- Webster County High School serves students from 9th to 12th grade. About 680 students attend this high school.
The High School, Middle School, and Elementary School are all connected. They share a cafeteria, which is known as the Webster County Annex.
Public Library
Dixon also has a lending library. It is a branch of the Webster County Public Library. This is a great place for everyone to find books and learn new things.
