Doctor Who Adventures was a super cool magazine for fans of the British TV show Doctor Who. It was made for younger readers, usually between 6 and 13 years old. This was a bit younger than the audience for the Doctor Who Magazine.

The magazine started in April 2006. At first, it came out every two weeks. Later, in 2008, it started coming out every week! In 2013, it went back to being published every two weeks. Then, from 2014, it became a monthly magazine. By late 2016, it was published every other month. The magazine paused publication in June 2017, but a special one-off issue was released in January 2019.

Magazine Look and Style

The look of Doctor Who Adventures changed a few times over the years. When it first started, the magazine's title used a special transparent white Doctor Who logo. The word Adventures had colors from the official Doctor Who logo.

Later, the official Doctor Who logo was used, and the word Adventures changed colors with each new issue. The design also updated to match the newest Doctor and TV series. For example, it changed in April 2010 for Matt Smith's Doctor and again in March 2013. The magazine's look changed a fifth time in January 2019 to fit the 2018 series.

Awesome Features Inside the Magazine

Doctor Who Adventures was packed with fun stuff for fans! Here are some of the cool things you could find in each issue:

  • Welcome and News: The magazine usually started with a welcome from The Doctor himself. It also had a "Who News" section with secrets and the latest updates about the Doctor Who TV show.
  • Facts and Puzzles: You could learn amazing facts about different monsters, aliens, gadgets, or even humans from the show. There were also lots of puzzles to solve, which were always a fun challenge.
  • Letters from Fans: Readers could send letters to The Doctor or even to a different monster each week! It was a great way for fans to share their thoughts.
  • Competitions: Each issue had exciting competitions where you could win cool Doctor Who prizes.
  • Alien Babies Comic: This was a super funny one-page comic strip. It was about a nursery run by Dorium Maldovar where baby aliens went to play and learn.
  • Whoniverse Collection: These were special parts that you could collect from each issue. Once you had all the parts, you could put them together to make a mini-magazine!
  • Posters: Every issue came with awesome posters of The Doctor, companions, or monsters.
  • Comic Strip: A big part of the magazine was a comic strip with a new story each week. You could follow the adventures of The Doctor and his friends in comic form.
  • Fun Activities: There was often a page with a different craft or activity to make each week.
  • LOLS!: This page was full of jokes and funny made-up stories about the monsters from Doctor Who.
  • The Doctor's Guide to the Galaxy!: On this page, The Doctor would share information about a specific planet from the Doctor Who universe.
  • Behind The Scenes: This section gave readers a peek at how the show was made. You could learn about how producers created monsters, sets, or props.
  • Where's The Doctor?: This was a fun activity, a bit like "Where's Wally?". You had to find The Doctor, his friends, and aliens hidden in a busy picture.
