Dodge Reservoir is a large lake in Lassen County, California. It was made in 1937 by the people who owned the Dodge Ranch. This reservoir covers about 491 acres. It is surrounded by plants like sagebrush and California juniper. The area around the reservoir is a Sagebrush steppe, which is a type of dry grassland. The Dodge Ranch still owns the special rights to the water in the reservoir.

Dodge Reservoir is a great place to go fishing! The California Department of Fish and Game has often added different kinds of fish here. You might catch Rainbow, Eagle Lake, brown, or Lahontan cutthroat trouts. The best time to fish is usually in the spring and early summer.
Getting to Dodge Reservoir
You can visit Dodge Reservoir all year long. However, getting there can be tricky, especially when it's wet. The roads leading to the reservoir are dirt roads and are not paved. Even a little rain or snow can make the last mile of the road hard to use. Sometimes, it might even become impossible to drive on.
There is a campground nearby that is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This campsite has picnic tables, a toilet, and a dirt boat ramp. You can launch small boats from this ramp. Just remember, the campsite does not have trash services, RV hookups, shade, or drinking water. There are no fees to use the campsite, but you can give donations if you wish.
