  • The Voice of "Stan" (Stephen Full) is the family's talking dog who writes a blog. Only Avery, Tyler, Chloe, Karl, and Grandma James know his secret. Stan loves poodles but dislikes noisy pomeranians. He talks to Avery the most, showing she is his favorite. Stan has a special toy monkey named Robert. He is also sensitive about being called "just a dog."
  • Bennett James (Regan Burns) is Tyler and Chloe's dad and Avery's step-dad. He is a child psychologist but often acts childish himself. He writes books and uses his family as examples. Bennett always tries to help his children get along.
  • Ellen Jennings (Beth Littleford) is Avery's mom and Tyler and Chloe's step-mom. At first, she doesn't like dogs, especially Stan. Later, she and Stan become friends. She loves making jokes and often says, "Good one, Ellen!"
