The Dogger Bank is a very large area of shallow water in the North Sea. Think of it like a huge underwater hill made of sand! It's located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) away from the coast of England.

This underwater sandbank is quite big. It stretches about 260 kilometers (160 miles) long and 97 kilometers (60 miles) wide. The North Sea is usually about 94 meters (308 feet) deep on average. But over the Dogger Bank, the water is much shallower, averaging only 30 meters (98 feet) deep. At its most shallow point, the water is just 13 meters (43 feet) deep!

Long, long ago, during the last ice age, the Dogger Bank was sometimes above water. It would appear as an island or even a land bridge. This land bridge connected what is now Great Britain to the rest of Europe.

Today, the Dogger Bank is a very important place for fishing. Many types of fish live here, especially cod and European plaice. Fishermen often visit this area to catch these fish.
