William "Dolly" King (born November 15, 1916 – died January 29, 1969) was an amazing American athlete. He played professional basketball and baseball. Dolly King was one of the first African Americans to play in the National Basketball League (NBL). The NBL was an important league before the NBA was created.

A College Sports Star
Dolly King was a true superstar at Long Island University in the late 1930s. He played three different sports! He was great at basketball, baseball, and football.
An Incredible Day
His coach, Clair Bee, once told an amazing story about Dolly. One day, Dolly King played an entire college football game. Right after that, he played an entire college basketball game! All on the very same day. This shows how talented and strong he was.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Dolly King became a professional basketball player. He joined a famous all-black team called the New York Renaissance. This team was known for its incredible skill.
Playing in the NBL
In 1946, Dolly King made history. He was signed by the Rochester Royals in the National Basketball League (NBL). He was one of the few African American players in the league at that time. He played 41 games for the Royals and helped them reach the playoffs. He scored about 4 points in each game.
Professional Baseball Career
Dolly King was not just a basketball star. He also played professional baseball in the Negro leagues. He played from 1944 to 1948.
