Dominic J. Squatrito was born in Hartford, Connecticut. He loved to learn and went to college at Wesleyan University. In 1961, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went to Yale Law School and became a lawyer in 1965.
Early Career and Legal Work
After law school, Dominic Squatrito worked as a lawyer in Manchester, Connecticut. He helped people and businesses with their legal needs. He also helped the government in different ways:
- From 1972 to 1979, he gave legal advice to the Town of Manchester Housing Authority. This group helps people find homes.
- He advised the Connecticut State Legislature Judiciary Committee from 1974 to 1975. This committee works on laws.
- He also helped a state committee that chose important people for government jobs.
- From 1976 to 1980, he was the main lawyer for the Connecticut Senate. This is part of the state's law-making body.
Serving as a Federal Judge
On July 28, 1994, President Bill Clinton chose Dominic Squatrito to be a federal judge. This was a new judge position created to help with more court cases. The United States Senate agreed with the choice. He officially became a judge on October 7, 1994.
