Dominic James (born October 5, 1986) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a point guard, which means he helps lead his team's offense. Currently, he plays for Al-Shamal Sports Club in the Qatari Basketball League.

College Days at Marquette

Dominic James played college basketball for the Marquette Golden Eagles from 2005 to 2009. He was known as one of the best young players in the country.

Freshman Year Success

In his first year (2005–06), Dominic was amazing. He scored about 15 points per game. He also made many assists, helping his teammates score. He was the best freshman scorer in his conference, the Big East. Dominic set a new record for freshmen at Marquette by scoring 473 points. Because of his great play, he was named the Big East Rookie of the Year. He also earned other important awards.

Sophomore Season Highlights

Dominic continued to shine in his second year. Before the season, many experts thought he would be a top player. He was named to the John R. Wooden Award list, which honors the best college players. At the end of the season, he was named First-Team All-Big East. He also received an Honorable Mention All-America award from the Associated Press. In March 2007, he made a career-high 10 assists in a game. After this season, he thought about joining the 2007 NBA draft but decided to stay in college.

Junior Year and Awards

During the 2007–08 season, Dominic kept up his strong performance. He averaged nearly 13 points and over 4 assists per game. His skills earned him a spot on the All-Big East Second-Team. He was also one of the top 16 players considered for the Bob Cousy Award. This award goes to the best point guard in college basketball.

Senior Season Challenge

Dominic's final college season (2008–09) faced a big challenge. In February 2009, he broke a bone in his left foot. Many thought his college career was over. However, he worked hard and was cleared to play again just before a big game against Missouri in March 2009. This showed his dedication to his team.
